Helping Your Pets Survive the Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy

November 2, 2012
Hurricane Sandy has carved its place among the history books as we contend with the aftermath. FEMA has provided instructions on how to keep your pets safe.
  • Leash your pets when they go outside in the first few days after a disaster, even in a fenced yard or area.
  • Maintain close contact as familiar scents and landmarks may have been altered causing your pet to be confused.
  • The behavior of your pets may change after an emergency, just as we are effected, so are they. Normally quiet and friendly pets may become aggressive and defensive.
