Help Build Our Pet Emergency Room

Your support is helping us to build Purdy’s Perch, which will help facilitate wellness in the cats struggling with continual illness. This room will be a sterile and serene environment. For residents that come with severe medical or neglect and need to heal or get well.

Introducing Tommy

Tommy is a great cat and should be in a home. He found his way to our doorstep. Someone just dropped him at the sanctuary door and he just sat there. Independent, a good listener and so handsome, Tommy is about 8 to 10 years o…ld. He just wants to be loved again where he can be King. Tommy, a cat at One More Smith Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. Update on Greta

Six years ago this week one of our residents, Greta a 12 year old German short hair pointer, got her front leg got stuck in mud and had a spiral break in three places. Most animals would lose their leg. Greta only had one front leg. The first lost from a blow to the shoulder by a foot or a car and left outside to die at age 6…. We used a fantastic surgeon who created a rod with screws and wire and attached it to the bone. We then used water therapy to have her relearn to walk. She is 18 years old and since then has fetched over a thousand tennis balls and still does. The power of will.

One More Smith Construction Update

New Year and much to do…. Currently OMS has three residents and one new Smith in overnight vet care. The need for us to finish Purdy’s Perch has never been more needed. Carina’s run slated to begin as soon as the snow is gone.

Freezing Cat Rescued From Construction Site Drainpipe

Great news! A friend of OMS has successfully captured a freezing kitty living in a drainpipe at a construction site. The cat, a beautiful black with white tuxedo-type, is resting warmly at OMS as I type. Off to the vet in the a.m. Thank you, Carlos!
